About Adhoc Report Builder

This service is available to:

• Customer administrators if the client purchases the service and completes the required Powerpay Plus Adhoc Report Builder training.
• Customer users if a customer administrator assigns the customer user access.

Adhoc Report Builder is a separate product that you access through DaaS. In addition to creating new reports and customizing pre-defined starter reports, you can also use Adhoc Report Builder to create and edit queries. Although Dayforce doesn't support this advanced functionality, for more information, see the online Help available in the Adhoc Report Builder tool.

Adhoc Report Builder is a report authoring tool that uses Microsoft® SQL Server®. To use Adhoc Report Builder, you:

• Don't have to know SQL syntax.
• Won't have to write SQL statements to create reports.

Tip: Dayforce recommends that you use the provided starter reports to build new reports. If you start with a Dayforce starter report, you don't have to build data sources or data sets. Dayforce does this for you. Each starter report includes a number of the most common report fields for you to choose from when building your report.

You can access the Adhoc Report Builder service from the following two locations in DaaS:

• Home page
• Navigation panel

Accessing from the Home page

On the Home page, click the Adhoc Report Builder hyperlink () to open the Adhoc Report Builder service.

Accessing from the Navigation panel

The navigation area, located in the upper left corner of any page, contains the navigation panel icon ().

When you click the navigation panel icon, DaaS displays a menu of all available services and features available to the user.

To open the Adhoc Report Builder service, do this:

1. On any page, in the navigation area, click .
2. On the navigation panel that appears, click Reports > Adhoc Report Builder.

   

1. Open the Adhoc Report Builder service.

   How?

   Do one of the following:

   • On the Home page, click the Adhoc Report Builder icon.
   • In the navigation panel, click Reports > Adhoc Report Builder.
2. When the tool opens, on the Getting Started window, click Open.

3. On the Open Report window that appears, click the HPW Reports folder.

   A list of all available subfolders and files appears.

When you minimize a report in the Adhoc Report Builder service, the page appears as a blank black page. To display the report again, on your keyboard, click the ALT key and the Page Up key simultaneously.
